USA Women’s National Team Shines at Holiday Bash Tournament

WINCHENDON, Mass. – Members of ASHI’s USA Women’s National Team participated at the 2016 Cool Hockey Holiday Bash Tournament this past weekend in Feasterville, PA. In preparation for the 2017 ISBHF World Senior and Women’s Ball Hockey Championship that will be held June 3-10 in Pardubice, Czech Republic, members of the team competed in the Women’s A, Women’s B and Co-Ed Divisions.

In the Women’s A Division, 10 members played on the championship team Happy Endings: Stefanie Caban (Fitchburg, MA), Haley Frade (New Bedford, MA), Roxanne Gaudiel (Venice, FL), Alessandra Glista (Boston, MA), Nikki Gnozzio (Denville, New Jersey), Amber Moore (Sunnyvale, CA), Erica Simpson (Concord, NH), Taylor Steadman (Hartford, VT), Cherie Stewart (Lake Forest, CA), and Lindsay Wilde (Billerica, MA).

Steadman captured the Most Valuable Player award and Caban, the youngest member of Team USA at the age of 16, was awarded the Most Valuable Defenseman award.

Gaudiel, Moore and Stewart also played on the Women’s B Division winning team from New York City, Slayher, with Stewart winning the division’s MVP award.


In addition, Women’s National Team members competed in the Co-Ed Division. Lindsey Bitler (Reading, PA) and Tiffany Pokora (Flushing, MI) played on the Co-Ed A Division’s runner-up, DC Stars and Stripes, with Bitler winning the Most Valuable Female award.

ASHI’s Womens Division general manager is Jason Kelly (Media, PA). Gwen Ranquist-Lemieux (Hamilton, ON), who served as head coach from 2006-07, returns behind the bench in 2017. She will be joined by assistant coaches Dorene Sheets (Vancouver, BC), Jason Glista (Winthrop, MA), and goalie coach Thomas Bricklemyer (Philadelphia, PA).

The team will be holding camps Jan. 14-15 in Dracut, MA and in April in St. Catharines, ON. The women’s national team has captured one bronze medal in the programs history, and finished fourth at the 2015 World Championships.
