Winchendon, Mass. – ASHI Team USA Women’s Division General Manager Jason Kelly announced today the coaching staff for the USA Women’s National Masters Team Blue and Team Red that will compete at the 2018 ISBHF World Masters Ball Hockey Championship Sept. 26-30 in Bermuda.

Shawn Mulcahy (Lynn, MA) returns as the head coach of Team Blue, as well as his assistant coaches Jason Glista (Winthrop, MA) and Paul White (Lynnfield, MA). Jackie Spiegel (Brooklyn, NY), who served as an assistant coach for Team Red in 2016, has been promoted to head coach and will be joined on the bench again by Jake Denne (McKeesport, PA) and Chris Howdeshell (Limestone, ME).

Mulcahy will be making his third appearance as the head coach for USA Ball Hockey Masters Team Blue. The two-time ISBHF World Championship Masters silver medalist also served as an assistant coach for the US Women’s National Team in 2011. Mulcahy also brings years of experience as an ice hockey coach with the Lynn (MA) Seahawks.

Glista, who recently won a silver medal with the US Women’s National Team at the 2017 ISBHF World Ball Hockey Championship in Pardubice, CZE, will be running Team Blue’s offense for the third consecutive year. A two-time Masters silver medalist, Glista was a member of Team DC at the 2016 ISBHF World Master’s Ball Hockey Championships. He also served as an assistant coach for the US Women’s National Team in 2015, 2013 and 2011.

White, who served under Mulcahy in 2016, returns as the defensive coach for Team Blue. A silver medalist at the ISBHF World Masters Ball Hockey Championship in 2016, White has served as a player and and coach with the Lynn (MA) Seahawks ice hockey program for many years.

Spiegel will be representing the U.S. as a coach for Masters for the second time, first as a head coach. She served as an assistant coach at the 2016 World Masters Championship with Team Red. In 2014, she was a member of Team Red at the World Masters Championship held in Tampa Bay, FL. In addition to her work with Masters, she was recently named an assistant coach for the USA Women’s Ball Hockey U-20 team that will compete in 2018 as well.

Denne will be returning as the offensive coach for Team Red. He has coached the Stanley Cupcakes (D.C.) women’s program for more than three years, with his focus on working with the forwards. An experienced coach, Denne spent a year as a graduate assistant football coach at Carnegie Mellon University.

Howdeshell is returning as the defensive coach for USA Team Red after holding the same position at the 2016 ISBHF World Master’s Championship in Banff, AB. An experienced ball hockey player at the tournament level, Howdeshell began coaching in 2015 with the Stanley Cupcakes (D.C.) women’s program.
