The 2016 ISBHF Masters World Ball Hockey Championships are taking place June 1 – June 6 in Banff, Alberta, Canada.  Banff is located approximately 75 miles West of Calgary and is considered one of the most pristine and scenic towns in all of North America.  Banff is known for world class vacations featuring camping, hiking, wilderness, and some of the most breathtaking views of the Northern Rockey Mountains a person can witness.  The Canadian Ball Hockey Association is the host country’s governing body of the sport of ball hockey and they are looking forward to welcoming a total of 19 Mens and Womens Masters Teams as they compete for a medal.

The 2016 USA Masters Team is coached by Head Coach Jay Machin from Port Jefferson, NY.  Jay was also the head coach for this team in 2014.  The assistant coaches helping Jay and the team in their quest for gold at the 2016 ISBHF World Masters Ball Hockey Championships are Rich Gabe from Broomall, PA, and Desmond Deeter from Lancaster, PA.  Rich is a former 2014 Team USA Masters Member and Desmond was an assistant coach on the 2014 Team USA Masters.  That team won the Bronze Medal.  Congratulations to Jay, Rich, and Desmond and the rest of the team as they begin their preparation camp this weekend in Massachusetts.

The 2016 DC Masters Team is coached by Head Coach Rock Stefan from Mt. Ephraim, NJ.  Rock as an assistant coach with the DC Masters team at the 2014 World Championships in Tampa.  The assistant coaches for this year’s team are Scotty Payne from Philadelphia, PA, and Chris Bokuniewicz from East Orange, NJ.  Scotty and Chris are both long time ball hockey players who have played in and won many tournaments throughout their careers.  Each has experience coaching both youth and adult sports but this is their first time assisting on a US National Team.  Congratulations to Rock, Scotty, and Chris and the DC team as they look to take home a medal.

In addition to the coaching staffs, the teams are of course led by GM Jamie Cooke and Assistant GM Nick Beard.  Joining them in Banff are ASHI Head Equipment Manager Robert Chassin of Buffalo, NY, and Team Doctor Mike Ryan from Buffalo, NY.  ASHI will be represented by all of these amazing and talented gentlemen.
