Head Coach Rock Stefan

Over the past few weeks the players from Team DC  have casted their votes for who they see as the best qualified teammate to lead their team as captain at the Masters World Championships this June.  Coach Rock Stefan took this into account as well as who he thought would fit best and in the end have selected from Lancaster, PA # 21 George Tarantino as the captain of Team DC.  We asked George for his thoughts on being named captain and he said “It’s an honor to be thought of so highly by anyone, but for it to come from teammates, peers and the head coach it’s very special. Being a captain has always been a responsibility I take very seriously and I look forward to being the best servant to the greater good of the team that I can be.”

Joining George as Alternate captains will be from Pittsburgh, PA # 6 Dave Magliocco who stated ” I first want to say thanks for the nod guys … I take this position very serious … I’m honored that my peers think highly of me to select me as one of the captains … We have a great core of guys here that I think that we can definitely make some noise here come June at worlds.”, from Marlton, NJ  # 11 Joe Silverio who had this to say about his selection” Wow! Honored and humbled. Always a special feeling when the boys in the room show a trust in you as an individual. I’m fired up to help the guys who have not been here before. Even at our advanced age it can work on the nerves a bit and maybe I can lend some calming advice for the good of the squad.” and from Lindenhurst, NY # 11 Frank Will who last masters came away with a Bronze medal had this to say “I am beyond honored to be chosen with this group of guys and cant wait to show everyone were not the other team but THE team, remember will and heart will always win !!!!!!”.

As all athletes or fans know having the letter “C” or “A” attached to a players jersey holds a lot of responsibility.  We here at ASHI couldn’t think of four better players that could have been chosen for this honor.  With these four players leading Team DC into competition this June it’s easy to see why Team DC will be entering the tournament as one of the favorites to still be playing in the medal round.  Again from the entire coaching staff, the hockey community and ASHI congrats on such a great honor
